Responding to and understanding the causes of criminal behaviour are major preoccupations of society — and the pursuit of justice has never been more complex or challenging. Whether we’re trying to balance the rights of victims and offenders, create just laws, or protect communities, we often look to the criminal justice system for solutions.
You can gain hands-on experience through international exchanges, co-op placements, research and case studies. You’ll graduate with the ability to think critically about issues in law, social inequality, human rights, Indigenous justice, ethics, crime control and prevention. Upon graduation, apply your understanding of the critical issues of race, class, and gender to the administration of the criminal justice system.
The Criminology degree program is one of 10 bachelor of arts programs that share a one-year foundation.

Academic requirements
This is a Grades-Only program. Admission decisions for Grades-Only programs are based on academic performance.
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with a minimum of six Grade 12 U or M courses including the following program specific requirements.
Typically, a minimum overall average of 70% establishes eligibility for admission consideration; subject to competition individual programs may require higher prerequisite grades and/or higher overall averages:
- A minimum grade of 70 % or higher will be required in Grade 12 U English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred)

Normalizing conversations surrounding race and marginalized communities
A group of Criminology students hosted a panel in collaboration with their course and the Community Engaged Learning & Teaching (CELT) project. The panel featured student speakers, and worked to raise awareness and provide students with solutions and next steps to tackle racism and exclusion.
